Willona cleaned my carpet yesterday and I just love it. My room is one of the few rooms with carpet. It gets dirty fast because 5 out of the 7 cats hang out in here. And I am visited by several dogs a day. I am lucky they have to go a long way from the door to my room so I don't get a lot of mud. All the photo's of the cats I can find are of Gir, I will have to take some of
Cactus, Jennifer, Grumpy, Sam, Miss Piggy, and Love.

Gir I call him baby Gir, because we got him when he was a very little baby, with a hair cut and tail dyed, he loves the attention.

When Willona laid down for a nap Jazzy and Gir used her for a bed.

Lizzy

Lizzy is going to have her puppies any day now and the entire house is on edge waiting. All births are attended by all of us, taking turns to keep an eye on how things are going with Willona as Mid Wife. Lizzy was bread by a white Yorkie so we are hopping to get white puppies but you never know. You can see more here

It finally warmed up enough to rain. We did alright with the heavy snow. Paul worked most days up in the hills from us and got stuck a few times in his work van. Most times Willona and Jonah were able to pull him out with the 4 wheel drive van. One time he really got stuck and even the tow truck refused to come pull him out so he and Jonah worked at it until they got the van out.
I finally got my computer to working also.
Willona makes such good lasagna that she has to cook it in a large turkey roaster and then it was gone in 24 hours.
I wish these photos were not so bad but OK for a $19.00 camera.

This sock making has been a real challenge to me.
After making 3 very funny looking socks and 3 others getting the size correct I finally got a pair that looks like sock. They are really hunter green but came out lighter here.
Everyone else spent the day making pies. Since Paul can't work today he helped the kids make pumpkin and apple pies. It was still snowing today.

It is still snowing. The news says we have not had a winter event like this since 1968 so are calling it a 40 year storm.
I84 the Oregon side and SR14 the Washington side to the Portland have been closed for days. The finally got a bit of SR14 open tonight. SR14 is a 2 lane highway.

Everyone but me went to drop of a dog and pick up another one Sunday morning.
Jazzy being one.
They went through Yakima WA and they had to spend the night near Randal WA.
I used to be a Janitor and had to work in the snow all winter long driving around at night to get the the different jobs. And clearing the sidewalks in the morning before people started walking on them. I am so glad I don't have to go out in it now.

Snow and more snow.
Many power outages.
These were taken out the window as I am not going out in this unless I have to.
But the kids and deer love it.

My Mom sent me this email and it is so true.
My forgetter's getting better, But my rememberer is broke To you that may seem funny But, to me, that is no joke
For when I'm 'here' I'm wondering If I really should be 'there' And, when I try to think it through, I haven't got a prayer!
Of t times I walk into a room, Say 'what am I here for?' I wrack my brain, but all in vain! A zero, is my score.
At times I put something away Where it is safe, but, Gee! The person it is safest from Is, generally, me!
When shopping I may see someone, Say 'Hi' and have a chat, Then, when the person walks away I ask myself, 'who the hell was that?'
Yes, my forgetter's getting better While my rememberer is broke, And it's driving me plumb crazy And that isn't any joke.

Went to Randall WA today to drop off a dog. Took some photo's of some the the land between here and Yakima WA. Nothing lives here but some wild horses and I only seen one bunch and we drove by so fast I could not get a photo.

A snow storm is coming and you can see by the sky when it starts to get near.

This is Mount Raineer hiding behind the tree. It never fails something comes between me and what I want to take a photo of. It is covered in snow.

I have not done much lately as my right hand keeps going to sleep. The Doctor said it would take 14 days before the shot starts working on the pain mean while the numbing shot is keeping me from over working it.
I had to go to town to do some errands. Here are some photo's of our big town. This is one block of the 4 blocks of town.
It is so strange usually we have snow by now today it was 50% not very cold at all.

This is the senior center and senior thrift store.
If you look real hard you can see Jonah on his bike, he is helping his friend deliver news papers. I just happen to be taking photo's when he road up.

This is the General Store were we buy almost everything until we go to The Dalles or Yakima.

Here is an old gas pump in front of the General store.

Down the road is the grocery store.

I had to go to The Dalles for a shot in my wrist for carpal tunnel

Yesterday I spend trying to find out what is wrong with Willona's computer. Still don't know. Going up and down the stairs is not easy for me now.
I remember in my 20's I ran for stairs like that and over stepped them all together and went down about 20 stairs not touching one and landed at the bottom with only a cut on my butt from my high heel shoe. If I fell now I doubt if I would live through it.
And the rest of the day I spent trying to start a fire in the stove. I can't believe I can't start a fire all I did was give my self a headache from all the smoke. I have to keep a fire going because my fire starting skills are gone if I ever had any.

Flash Back

This is my Dad in his younger years. He was in the service I think Air Force and had something to do with Air Planes. I think he flew and maybe worked on them. I guess I better find out just what he did.

I know he was in the National Guards when I was a teenager because non of the older guys would date me. They would ask my name and when I told them they would say my (I can't remember what he was called) has the same name do you know him. At first I would say yes he is my Dad then they would disappear so I finally just said no I did not know him. It was a good thing for them that I had a steady boy friend all the way through high school.

Here is another photo of Don, Dad And Uncle Jack. I don't remember who Don is so will have to check on that. I did not realize I did not know so much. And here if am the family historian.

Today I made 16 pie crusts. I put 14 in the freezer and 2 in the refrigerator. I will fill the 2 later.
I had to use a very large roster pan to mix it all in. It took me about 1 1/2 hours to get the shortening mixed into the flour and salt. I was going to take photo's of the process but I put my cheep camera some place where it would not get lost and now I can't find it maybe next time. If I find the camera I will try not to hide it from myself again.
For me it is better to have pie crusts ready or I never make pies. So I would rather spend a few hours making crusts then I have them ready when I feel like making a pie.
Here is the recipe

Freezer Pie Crust makes 16
3 lbs. Shortening
5 lbs or 20 cups Flour
2 Table spoons Salt
3 Cups Ice water

In a very very large bowl mix flour, salt, and shortening together with your hands until all the shortening is mixed into the flour and it resembles very small peas. Add Ice water and mix well. Form into balls then flatten them so it is easy to roll out ounce defrosted.
Wrap individually in waxed or freezer paper and put in large freezer bags.
When ready to make a pie take out of freezer and defrost and roll out.
